Ever heard of Assam's most gorgeous national park, where the river Jia bhoroli flows through the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas, bordering Arunachal Pradesh? Nameri National Park is located in the Sontipur District. Nameri is bordered to the north by Arunachal Pradesh's Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary. Nameri is home to several endangered species, including the white-winged wood duck, sloth bear, tiger leopard, clouded leopard, sambar, gaur, Indian wild dog, four forms of hornbill, and many more winged species. Nameri is also well-known for its elephant herds. The park is densely populated with elephants. Nameri's scenery is defined by the flowing Jia-Bhoroli River, which serves as the town's lifeline. This river undoubtedly contributes significantly to the park's diverse biodiversity. It is also a popular hangout for Mahasheer. The Nameri Tiger Reserve, which is home to the White Bellied Heron and the White Winged Duck, is also an excellent bird watching destination, with over 300 bird species. Lesser racket-tailed Drongos, Beautiful Nuthatch, Grey-headed Fishing Eagle, Jerdon's Baza, and numerous other species can be found. But there's always more for adventurers. Boating, swimming, river rafting, angling, and other water sport are all accessible here, as well as walking trails and magnificent views.
A relaxing yet thrilling float down gentle rapids of Jia Bhoroli across ~13km, taking 2-3 hours and affording quiet forest vistas and bird/animal observations from the raft.
Armed forest guards accompany 5-8 kilometer treks. Explore semi-evergreen and bamboo-covered landscapes, cross Jia-Bhoroli by boat, and look for orchids and other wildlife.
