In the 17th century, Sri Sri Ram, a spiritually endeavored priest, lived in Mahamari of Daliajan and established peace, spirituality, and unity among the people. He had a blessed daughter, Dite, who was naughty and feared by her mother. However, she grew up to be beautiful and beautiful, and one night, the Jaldevata, the water god, requested Dite's hand for marriage.
Despite the villagers' objections, the Jaldevata flooded the region, destroying everything. Sri Sri Ram left Mahamari and established a new satra in Merbeel, Sasoni. After two days, Dite's father accepted the proposal and married the Jaldevata, who brought gold coins and other treasures. Even now it is said that people in the region get these gold coins while plowing. After the marriage, Sri Sri Ram prayed to God to save them from the island and built a shallow area on the western side. This is how the Merbeel region is said to be created, as believed by the locals, although scientifically it is said to be an oxbow lake of Buri Dihing.
