Dibru Saikhowa National Park: Experience Feral horses, water buffaloes and nature at its best
Explore Assam's lovely environment, complete with wild horses in the fields. It is located in Assam's Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts. Dibru Saikhowa National Park, a Biosphere Reserve, is known for its white-winged wood ducks and feral horses. During World War II, the British Army domesticated feral horses and abandoned them. These horses have adapted to the wild and now thrive in the park, where there are roughly 50 of them. The park is divided into nine different wetland zones, which provide a unique and magnificent landscape. It also has the largest salix swamp forest in northeastern India, making it even more important for the environment. If you enjoy bird watching, winter is the perfect time to visit, as migratory birds surround this stunning terrain. You may see Ruddy Shelducks, Cormorants, Drongos, Kingfishers, Hornbills, Mynas, Bar Headed Geese, Purple Swamphens, and other birds. However, if you appreciate nature and greenery, the monsoon season is ideal for you. You can take houseboat cruises to explore the park's islands. See gorgeous orchids and many creatures, making for a thrilling adventure. Boat and river excursions departing from Guijan or Saikhowa Ghat provide opportunities to see Gangetic dolphins, migratory birds, and explore the rich Maguri Beel wetland. Churkey Sapori Park is noted for its wild feral horses.
Visit the river island Churkey Sapori, which is home to approximately 50 wild bronzes, descendants of WWII army horses. Observe them in small herds, especially during the monsoon.
Nature hikes to sites such as the ancient Kekjori tree, as well as cultural trips to nearby Mishing and Moran villages, add to the appeal.
