11 Most visited tourist places in Assam

According to the data published by the Govt. of Assam, in the years 2021–22, almost 17 million domestic and foreign tourists visited various places in Assam.

Here are the top 11 most visited tourist places of Assam

There are more than 26 tourist places in Assam, including national parks, adventures parks, temples, spiritual sites, and, museums.

1. Dhekiakhowa Bornamghar, Jorhat

It is popular for the earthen lamp that has been continuously burning since 1528 A.D. In the years 2021–22, almost 300,000 tourists visited the Namghar.

2. Kamakhya Temple, Guwahati

Located on Nilachal Hill, Guwahati, it is a Hindu pilgrimage site and has always been one of the most visited tourist places in Assam.

3. Kaziranga National Park

It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985 and is undoubtedly the best place for wildlife enthusiasts. It is home to 85% of the world's total one-horned rhinos.

4. Sankardev Kalakshetra

It portrays the cultural and social history of Assam. Museums, children's parks, amusement parks—it has everything to attract tourists of all genres.

5. Bordowa, Nagaon

Bordowa is the birthplace of the great social reformer Guru Srimanta Sankardev. His followers as well as other tourists visit the place for its divine purity and spiritualism.

6. Sivasagar Town

Sivasagar is popularly known for more than 350 archaeological imprints of the great Ahom Kingdom. And for the same reason, it is always one of the most visited places in Assam.
